The SNES version of Doom is one of the SNES titles that makes use of the Super FX chip found in special cartridges. More specifically it's one of only 8 games that utilize the Super FX chip, and 1 of only 3 that use the Super FX2. This title is noteworthy because it was quite the feat of technical prowess to get this game running on Super Nintendo hardware. It's also noteworthy because it's one of only three official releases on the SNES that utilized a different color cartridge than the standard grey
